CustomVue Individualized Laser Vision Correction

CustomVue - The Next Generation in LASIK

Since founding Paveloff Vision Center in 2001, pioneering eye surgeon Dr. Michael Paveloff has always offered his patients the most advanced laser vision correction technology available. Today, our commitment continues with the introduction of CustomVue, an advanced method of laser vision correction with the potential to give you a quality of vision even better than 20/20.

Our CustomVue procedure uses Wavefront scanning technology to evaluate virtually every imperfection with your vision. Wavefront scanning, originally developed for use in high-powered telescopes to reduce distortions when viewing distant objects in space, provides 25 times more precision than standard measurements for glasses or contact lenses.

CustomVue Fingerprint This detailed information allows Dr. Paveloff to make a virtual "fingerprint" of your eye and customize a treatment plan specifically for you. This can result in a level of vision excellence often better than the vision achieved with traditional glasses or contact lenses. In FDA clinical trials, 98% of patients achieved 20/20 vision or better within 12 months after their CustomVue procedure.

How We Perform CustomVue LASIK

Since the late 1990's, traditional LASIK has been the procedure of choice for surgeons worldwide in their effort to reduce or eliminate the public's dependence on corrective eyewear. Each year, more than one million people undergo LASIK for treatment of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. LASIK combines the accuracy of the VISX STAR S4 3-D ActiveTrak eye-tracking laser with the precision of today's advanced computer technology.

Today, leading eye surgeons like Dr. Paveloff are taking LASIK to the next level with CustomVue, a customized procedure approved by the FDA. During the CustomVue procedure, diagnostic information gathered during the Wavefront scanning process is then fed directly into our VISX STAR S4 laser.

CustomVue Machine Just like your fingerprint, the information fed into the laser is unique to your eyes only. Each of your eyes will receive their own custom laser procedure, with no two custom procedures being identical.

Similar to traditional LASIK, our CustomVue procedure is performed under a protective corneal flap and takes only a few minutes to complete. Patients remain awake and comfortable during the entire procedure. Most of our patients report little, if any, discomfort.

Our CustomVue procedures are performed in the comfort and safety of a specially designed laser suite at Santa Barbara Surgery Center. To help reduce possible risks and complications, factors such as humidity, temperature and overall air quality are closely monitored, regulated and maintained.

Risks and Complications

Like any surgical procedure, there are inherent risks and possible complications that can occur with LASIK. At Paveloff Vision Center, we take every precaution to ensure these risks are minimized. However, before proceeding with your procedure, you should fully understand these risks and be aware of possible complications that could occur. Most complications can be treated without vision loss.

Results from CustomVue and traditional LASIK will depend on several factors including your age, the general health of your eyes and your refractive error. Patients undergoing laser vision correction will occasionally end up under corrected or over corrected. In these instances, patients can be treated after three months with an enhancement procedure to help achieve an improved visual result.
