Our Staff
We’re confident that you will find the professional, highly-trained staff of Paveloff Vision Center warm and accommodating. From the boutique office setting to the personalized care you’ll receive, patient satisfaction is our highest priority. Ranging in experience from 2-14 years, the staff has worked closely with Dr. Paveloff since he opened his practice in Santa Barbara. Exhibiting dedication to their profession, each one of the back-office technicians has achieved the level of Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.

Beatrice Feldmann, COT
Beatrice was born and raised in Bakersfield and moved to Santa Barbara after graduating high school with honors. Since 1990, she has been working in the Ophthalmology field, starting at Sansum Clinic, before moving to the Santa Barbara Medical Foundation Clinic. She then joined Dr. Paveloff when he opened his private practice. Beatrice currently holds certification with the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician. She also holds certification as a VISX technician as well as an Intralase technician. She has extensive experience assisting with in-office surgical procedures as well as obtaining preoperative exams including Wavescan measurements and Axial length measurements (for the purpose of Cataract Surgery). Beatrice is also trained on pre-exam testing that includes refractometry, keratometry, corneal topography and retinal tomography.
Beatrice is a proud wife to Misha and proud mother to three boys; twins Isaac and Jacob born in March 2002 and Lucas born in August 2009.
Laura Gaona, Lead Receptionist and Surgery Coordinator
Laura Gaona was born in Santa Barbara and is the proud mother of two beautiful girls named Shaya and Rachell. She was a stay-at-home mother for most of her daughters’ lives before deciding to enter into the workforce in 2001. Laura worked as a receptionist at an accounting firm prior to joining Paveloff Vision Center as a receptionist and has been with the practice for over eight years. Although she began her employment with Dr. Paveloff as a receptionist, Laura has taken this opportunity and advanced her education through various courses from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. This initiative has contributed to Laura’s promotion to Lead Receptionist as well as Surgery Coordinator for Cataract Surgery and In-Office Surgery. As Cataract Surgery Scheduler, Laura is well-versed in the various multifocal and accommodative implant lenses offered by Dr. Paveloff. Along with these responsibilities, Laura is also trained in answering questions regarding insurance and is involved in Dr. Paveloff’s Lasik program by ensuring that patients are comfortable and at ease throughout their surgery process.
Mark Odorfer, COA
Mark Odorfer COA, has been working in the ophthalmology field for four years. He began working as a medical receptionist at Sansum Eye Clinic. After one year Mark was promoted to ophthalmic technician. In early 2008, Mark joined Paveloff Vision Center. Working with Dr. Paveloff, Mark has obtained certification with the Visx Excimer Laser System along with certification on the Intralase technology used in our Lasik practice. In May of 2009 Mark achieved his C.O.A. (certified ophthalmology assistant).
Mark was raised in Newbury Park and graduated from Westlake High School. Following graduation he joined the United States Airforce. After four years of service Mark was Honorably Discharged. He then moved to Santa Barbara where he currently resides.
Melody Phengthirath, Optician
Melody Phengthirath was born and raised in Orange County, CA. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising from Cal State University of Long Beach in 2006. The General Manager of the Lenscrafters in Newport Beach asked her to join the team so she can add a more fashion flare to the visuals and to help style the clients into more fashionable eyewear. After working as the Sales Supervisor for the company for a year, she decided she wanted to pursue a profession in the Optical field. She went on to working as an Optician at a private practice to get more training in the field in a more medical level. She worked for Griffin Optometric in Laguna Niguel for another year before moving to Santa Barbara in 2008. Now working with Dr. Paveloff, she continues to use the knowledge she obtained and her knowledge in fashion to style patients in modern eyewear that suits their looks and lifestyles.
Patti Thompson, COA
Raised in Santa Monica, Patti relocated to the Santa Barbara area in 1992 and has been working as an ophthalmic assistant since 1993. After working for 1 ½ years under the supervision of an ophthalmology group, Patti achieved Certified Ophthalmic Assistant status from the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel of Ophthalmology. A skilled technician, Patti joined Paveloff Vision Center in 2005 and is involved in vision testing and pre- and post-operative care for LASIK and cataract patients.
Patti is the proud mother of 4 sons.
