Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Blepharoplasty is a common, outpatient procedure to repair droopy eyelids by removing excess skin, muscle and fat. As you age, the skin on and around the eyelids stretches and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess fat may gather above and below your eyelids causing sagging eyebrows, drooping lids and bags under the eyes. Besides looking older, severely sagging skin around the eyes can also impair one’s vision. The blepharoplasty procedure can reduce or eliminate vision impairment and provide a refreshed, more youthful appearance.

Eyelid surgery may be covered by insurance if the procedure is determined to be medically necessary due to vision impairment. Generally insurance does not cover the procedure if it is for cosmetic reasons. As with any surgical procedure, a commitment to pre and postoperative instructions is essential. Dr. Paveloff will discuss the entire procedure and the results you can expect at your consultation.
